What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are substances that are injected just below the surface of the skin to fill in lines, wrinkles and scars. Once injected, the gel plumps and lifts the skin gently to replace collagen loss caused by the natural aging process. Fillers can also increase the fullness of the lips and lessen the downward slant of the corners of the lip.

What are the risks of fillers?

Each filler is unique and has its own profile. In general, however, risks include allergic reaction, infection, pain, and scar formation. You should talk to your physician to decide which filler is right for you.

Is the treatment painful?

Your doctor will typically numb the entire area with a topical numbing agent. This does not take away all the feeling so there is some degree of pain.

Is the treatment safe?

Since 1996, more than three million people have been successfully treated in more than 70 countries. The safety profile is impressive and well documented. And the results speak for themselves.
